DUELOS (MOURNING)
Clemencia Echeverri
In a country where many events remain unfinished, where the
air is loaded with hope, frustration and shattered memories, I
present the work Duelos (mourning) in this space as a moment
that traverses the facts and stories of the present and the past
via a persistent action. Face-to-face with disappearance, we are
confronted by impenetrable layers, heavy and immense.
By proposing the creation of a moment of public mourning
as the central axis of the work, I produce a polyphony of
acoustic images and vibrations, between space and time, full
of silent stories on the point of being spoken, of absent choirs
and traces of the fall of the individual and the collective before
the frustrated excavations of The Escombrera in Comuna 13,
Medellín.
Duelos is a video installation of nine synced images that,
together with three levels of sound, embraces the room and
evokes an endless process of mourning that continues to happen
in Colombia due to forced disappearance.
El Libro de Búsqueda rests on the table, ready to receive the
testimonies of the mourners of forced disappearance. I invite
you to write in it. This document will remain in the Fragmentos archive
